Claims FAQ

  • We are not an insurance company. We are an independent insurance agency, which means we are licensed and educated to sell insurance policies. Your insurance company is the actually provider of insurance that will pay out in the event of a covered loss. When we help you file a claim, we are actually providing the claim information to the insurance company that then reviews the insurance you purchased against the claimed damage.

  • This is a very tricky question and one we get asked all the time. Because we are not the insurance company, we do not have the right to determine whether or not your claim will be covered. The end decision for each claim is determined based on the insurance coverage you purchased, your claims adjuster, and any third party (public adjuster, lawyers, etc) involved in processing your claim. We can go over your policy with you in detail and review the coverages you purchased. Also, we can often provide an indication of whether or not a given claim might be covered in the event of a covered loss based on our experience - but the end determination is always provided by the insurance company once all pertinent claim information has been reviewed.

  • Absolutely! We are always here to help our clients file an insurance claim, just give us a call. But, you are always welcome to do it on your own. If you do file a claim on your own, feel free to reach out to us at any point in the process to assistance.

  • Wind damage claims are very common on the Vineyard. As a result, we pay extra attention to our clients wind, named storm, or hurricane deductibles on their home and property insurance policies. Understanding this deductible can save thousands in the event of a loss. It’s a decision that should be understood and carefully considered.
