About Sterling Insurance Group
Sterling Insurance Group is an independent insurance agency serving Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Cape Cod, and Boston, Massachusetts. We focus on helping clients understand and explore coverage options for homeowners, flood, auto, and commercial insurance with reputable insurance companies.
Independent insurance agency with coastal experience
As an independent agency, we are not tied to a single insurance company. Instead, we work with multiple insurers that have experience with coastal and island properties, including high‑value homes and complex risks on Martha’s Vineyard.
Our role is to act as an intermediary and advisor: we gather information, discuss available options, and help you work with carriers to request quotes and coverage that may fit your needs. Final coverage, pricing, and eligibility are always determined by the insurer and the terms and conditions of the policy.
What we help our clients with
Many of our clients come to us for guidance on:
Homeowners insurance for primary and seasonal residences, including high‑value and coastal properties on Martha’s Vineyard
Flood insurance options, including policies required by lenders for certain properties
Auto insurance for island and off‑island vehicles
Business and commercial insurance for local organizations and professional offices
Umbrella and excess liability policies that can complement underlying home or auto coverage
Renters insurance for individuals and families who lease their homes or apartments
For each of these areas, we can explain typical coverage features, common exclusions, and questions to ask, and we can submit information to carriers so they can review and, where eligible, provide quotes. Coverage is not guaranteed and is subject to underwriting, availability, and individual policy terms.
How we work with you
We start by learning about your property, business, or personal situation and what you want to protect. Based on that information, we can outline coverage options that may be available through the insurers we work with and answer general questions about how those policies are typically structured.
When requested, we can review your existing policies with you and highlight areas you may wish to discuss with the insurer or consider adjusting. Our comments are for general informational purposes only and are not legal or tax advice. Any changes to coverage, limits, or deductibles must be requested, approved, and documented by the insurer and will be governed solely by the terms of the issued policy.
Where we are located
Our main office is located at 31 Beach Road, Unit 203, in Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts, where we serve clients across Martha’s Vineyard, including Vineyard Haven (Tisbury), Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury, West Tisbury, Chilmark, Menemsha, and Aquinnah.
We also assist clients with properties and exposures connected to Nantucket, Woods Hole, Falmouth, the Cape, and the greater Boston area, helping bridge island and mainland needs where carriers and underwriting guidelines allow.
Our relationships with insurers and service providers
Over time, we have developed working relationships with a range of insurance companies and service providers that understand the unique considerations of coastal and island properties. These relationships give us a broader view of available markets and guidelines; however, they do not guarantee acceptance, renewal, or specific policy terms. Each insurer makes its own underwriting decisions, and all coverage is subject to the terms, conditions, and limitations of the policy issued by that insurer.
Our commitment to service
We aim to be responsive, professional, and clear in our communications. When you contact us, a licensed team member can help you with questions about billing, policy documents, certificates of insurance, and general coverage information.
While we work hard to assist you, we cannot promise that every loss will be covered or that every risk can be placed. The availability and scope of coverage depend on the insurer’s underwriting, your disclosures, and the specific language in your policy.
Important notice
Information on this page and throughout our website is provided for general informational purposes only and does not change or replace any policy language issued by an insurer. It is not a guarantee of coverage, an offer to insure, or a promise that any particular policy or coverage will be available for your situation.
Coverage cannot be bound, changed, or cancelled through this website, email, or voicemail alone. To discuss coverage, quotes, or changes, please speak directly with a licensed Sterling Insurance Group agent, and always refer to your actual policy documents for the terms and conditions that apply.
